About

Paul Crezee

Paul Crezee, born in Renesse (Zeeland, NL) and currently based near Amsterdam, is best known as the guitarist of the Dutch-British prog rock band Dilemma. With albums like Random Acts of Liberation and The Purpose Paradox — and a Best Prog Album award in 2018 — he helped shape the band’s distinctive sound for many years.

In his solo work, Paul reveals a different side of his musical personality: cinematic, melodic, and narrative — sometimes tranquil, sometimes groovy and raw — but always with a crystal- clear, honest sound in which each instrument has space to breathe.

For years, Paul also worked in aviation — first as an airline engineer at Schiphol Airport, then as head of technical services for a German airline. Since switching to a part-time role teaching aeronautical engineering, he’s been able to focus more fully on his musical ambitions.

Over time, Paul developed a unique playing style, marked by a self-taught picking technique that gives his guitar tone its signature warmth and character. Many of his compositions are born while traveling, capturing places, memories, or atmospheres — sometimes literally, sometimes abstract.

His debut solo album, 2CV, will be released in November 2025 and was recorded in the Barcelona region. The album features 11 tracks, split into two distinct parts:
– Fjordhest is meditative and calm, inspired by the steady nature of the Norwegian Fjord horse.
– Mustang is upbeat and danceable, with energetic excursions into rock.

The album features stunning cover art by French illustrator and visual artist Anne Merat, and will be followed shortly by a second solo release. Both albums were produced by Justin Stanton and recorded by Nic Hard, both members of Grammy-winning jazz/fusion group Snarky Puppy.

2CV is a richly layered and atmospheric listening experience, featuring:
– Paul Crezee on all guitars: including a 1932 National resonator, a 1974 Gibson J40 acoustic, his signature Teye La India (serial no. 11), a 1988 Fender Stratocaster and a 1971 Gibson Les Paul Black Beauty.
– Justin Stanton on all keyboards — Fender Rhodes (70s), Wurlitzer (70s), Philicordia (60s), Hammond (50s) — as well as trumpet.
– Hagai Cohen Milo, a key figure in the NYC and Berlin jazz scenes, on 18th-century upright bass, 1950s P-bass, and 1960s Höfner bass.
– Earl Harvin, known for his work with Trevor Horn and Seal, on drums — using a vintage 1960s Slingerland kit.

All recordings were captured using vintage microphones to highlight the depth and analogue warmth of these exceptional instruments. Special mention goes to the guitar amps: a 1955 Fender Champ, a 1966 Vibrolux, and a 1999 Fender Prosonic — the latter placed on a swing during recording to create a subtle doppler effect, now one of Paul’s sonic trademarks.

With meticulous attention to tone and space, Paul builds a sound world where travel, technology and emotion meet — wordless, but deeply expressive.

Now with a brand new live band, Paul is bringing this layered, atmospheric music to the stage — performed by seasoned musicians who bring it to life with energy and nuance.
